It's All About Dreams

 Each and every  log home and log cabin that is built is a custom home. Finding a plan that fits your needs, lifestyle and budget is the first step in achieving your handcrafted home dream. This may be done by just sketching your ideas on paper, seeing an existing plan in a magazine, or I can also provide design facilities to assist you and could gladly provide you with preliminary plans/sketches.

Once you have chosen the style of log home or log cabin you want, I can then give you a close estimate of what your log package will cost. If the pricing is within your budget requirements, you can then proceed to the next steps: design, drafting and engineering. If the pricing is higher than your budget allows, I can show you different ways of lowering the cost to meet your budget without changing the look and feel of your log home or log cabin.

What is included in a log shell?

Each log hand-peeled and full length scribed, using a saddle notch corner or a corner of your choice

All window and doorway openings cut to size, keywayed and flared back and sanded

Log beams and floor joists cut level for second floor or loft

Log ridge beams and purlins cut to correct roof pitch
 
All exterior corners are curled and sanded

All settling jacks supplied where needed

Fibreglass insulation in all corners and lateral notches

Sill gasket provided for the bottom log

Log stairs of dowell tenon construction (optional)

Log railings pre-built in sections for stairs, decks, lofts, and balconies (optional)

Customizing and Personalizing Your Log Shell

 Your log home or cabin will be as unique as your own personality,if you have a particular peice of wood or design idea that you would like incorperated into your shell we can sit together and discuss the possibilities of making it work out so that the integrity of your structure is maintained while all your expectations are met. Having your input along the way will help me to ensure that you get exactly what you want, after all this is your unique shell and should meet your vision clearly.

Aren't log homes really expensive?

  Most basic shells start between 45 and 50  dollars a square foot.The finished cost of a log home can be at many different levels. You can build a very simple design and the cost will reflect the simplicity. The more complex, the more per square foot the log home will cost. Costs are directly linked to number of corners or notches, number of log beams, high vaulted ceilings, amount of glass, big decks, covered porches and quality of finishing. A good general rule is if the style of finishing is similar in another type of construction, i.e. all wood finishes, and similar finishing, the finished log home cost will be only slightly more.
